As a marketing professional I research human behavior using both secondary and primary research in order to understand what makes different audiences unique, and motivates them to act and think a particular way. As a gen-Xer I’ve been at it awhile and have seen multiple paradigm shifts with respect to our marketing tools and how we communicate with each other worldwide.
As a political activist I stay on top of the media and communications platforms US citizens have at their fingertips to reach, entertain, inform, influence, education, and sell. It is both my career and hobby to understand how the media choices we have impact our perspectives, relationships and choices. But most importantly as a market researcher I value data, and all my content is both vetted for accuracy and sourced.
Every generation comes with a different lense based on their life experiences. My essays are intended to educate, entertain, and illustrate my unique perspective as a Gen-Xer that grew up as an airforce brat in the 70s and 80s, launched my career in the 90s marketing emerging technology globally, married a Dutch guy along the way, and raised a family as the internet came to life for everyday people. Everything I write should be viewed with an understanding of my personal biases below:
- I am a Progressive that wishes there was a viable third party
- I am a non-Christian that loves to celebrate Christmas
- I like real data and facts, a lot
- I am a capitalist that remains skeptical of neoliberalism
- My mind can be changed with context and provable data points
I hope you enjoy, and…
spread the word.
